Australian urban furniture company botton & gardiner are keeping it at home with a dynamic design team and exciting new products.
January 5th, 2009
botton & gardiner are designers and manufacturers of some of Australia’s best urban furniture and fixtures design.
Established in 1995 by designer, Mike Botton, and sales and marketing consultant, Carol Gardiner, the company has taken on major commissions including Bicentennial Park in the Homebush Bay Olympic Precinct and Sydney’s International Airport Terminal and Central Station, as well as countless shopping centre developments for companies such as Westfield, Lend Lease and Centro.
In the late nineties the company also began exporting, initially to Singapore then into the US through Westfield developments. botton & gardiner now have agents in Sydney, WA, Singapore and Japan, but remain one of the few suppliers to keep their manufacturing in Australia.
“Australian manufacturing gives us full control over the inputs and quality of what is output. This gives the advantage of being able to comprehensively monitor the sustainability of what we produce,” says Mike Botton.
The botton & gardiner design team is led by founder Mike Botton [Architecture and Interior design, pictured above], industrial designers Tom Marlay and Rowan Bell and Interior Architect Selina Wu.
“The progress and evolution of botton & gardiner has been underpinned by a recruitment philosophy that seeks individuals who fit the team culture first, rather than looking for specific skills and experience,” says Mike Botton.
botton & gardiner will be launching a Queensland presence in the first quarter of 2009 and are currently designing a new range of robust yet distinctively ‘designer’ upholstered furniture for heavy traffic venues.
Many botton & gardiner products would look as at home in a high-end residential development as they do in your local shopping centre, park or bar.
