Painter Derryn Tal explores new materials and methods in her new collection Waxing Lyrical.
March 16th, 2011
Derryn Tal’s exhibition Waxing Lyrical, on display at Sydney’s Depot Gallery from 5 to 9 April, brings together the artist’s newest works – sculpture, acrylic panels and wax and oil paintings.

This is Tal’s first exhibition since her recent group show in New York as part of Out from Down Under & Beyond at Chelsea’s Agora Gallery.
Waxing Lyrical marks a departure in Tal’s work as she experiments with new mediums and techniques.

Inspiring the title of the show is a set of miniature wax and oil paintings showcasing Tal’s abstract contemporary style.

Also showing for the first time is a series of acrylic panels, where Tal has used acrylic paint on photographic emulsion paper, creating some eye-catching, mesmering forms.

A range of sculptural works in steel and aluminium – ranging from tabletop pieces to 2.5 metre high structures – will be unveiled, as well as 6 mixed media paintings on canvas.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see the latest from this diverse Sydney-based artist.
