The show gallery by Singapore studio Ministry of Design is a stunning pointed landmark along China’s Dong Jiang Bay.
February 13th, 2012
Ministry of Design (or MOD) has built a dramatic permanent show gallery and tourist information centre for China’s largest developer, Vanke.
As the name suggests, the 750 sqm Tipple V Gallery features a triangulated floor plan as well as 3 soaring edges that define its form – a rational evolution from a careful analysis of key contextual and programmatic perimeters.
Paying heed to its coastal environment, the exterior features weather-sensitive corten steel panels that pitch upwards over triangular windows. Inside, warm timber strips cloak the interior walls and ceiling.
Triple V Gallery features 3 distinct zones: a tourist information centre, a show gallery and a lounge for discussion.
The tourist centre and show gallery each have their own separate entrance, while the lounge area, an extension of the gallery, takes advantage of the panoramic coastal views and features a sculptural bar counter.
MOD is in the midst of completing yet another show gallery for Vanke.
