The redesign involved the refurbishment of the entire ground floor in the middle infill unit, enriching guest arrival experience and social interaction.
In 2011, WOHA unveiled Space Furniture Asia Hub, nestled in the heart of Singapore’s Arts and Entertainment District. This architectural masterpiece featured a juxtaposition of heritage and contemporary elements, providing a captivating backdrop for luxury furniture. Fast forward to 2023, and the revamped Space Furniture Asia Hub tells a story of evolution, refinement, and an unwavering dedication to creating spaces that transcend time.
The new arrival lobby stands as the centrepiece of the revamped Space Furniture Asia Hub, serving as a visual link between multiple levels and different brand labels. It is a striking departure from its predecessor, featuring precision metal grids, dark tones, and textured surfaces that evoke a sense of sophistication.
The mirrored ceiling is a brilliant addition that multiplies spatial volume and enhances the mesmerising lighting array, creating an immersive space tailored for hosting events and showcasing furniture with unparalleled elegance. WOHA has successfully retained and refreshed the distinct interior expression of the shophouses and modern glass infill, ensuring a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.
The redesign work, encompassing the refurbishment of the entire ground floor, introduces a collaborative effort with Poliform to create a light-filled kitchen. This intimate gathering space not only enhances the social aspect of the showroom but also opens out to the pocket gardens in the plaza. The kitchen, a focal point of the redesigned ground floor, symbolises the intersection of lifestyle and luxury in a space that invites interaction and exploration.
Comparing the original design with the revamp underscores the evolution of WOHA’s design philosophy. While the original design emphasised contrasts between old and new within a dialogue, the new design prioritises spatial clarity and readability. Nevertheless, the meticulous preservation of heritage elements, the integration of modern design elements, and collaborative ventures like the Poliform kitchen all contribute to Space Furniture’s continued legacy as a trusted trendsetter in the ever-evolving landscape of luxury furniture retailing.
