Named for the expansive plains that stretch across our Earth, Flatlands pays homage to the prominent landforms which are crucial to human advancement. Flatlands can be found on every continent, most of them grasslands, and these plains are among the most influential landforms in the world. They provide a fertile site for agriculture which has helped to drastically develop our society over the last 10,000 years.
The Flatlands collection by Above Left and Carpets Inter honours our history and the heritage of the plains that cover our world. Inspired by the monotone textures of the plains which create a sense of endless expansion, the Flatlands collection achieves a similar effect. Seemingly stretching on forever, Flatlands provides a similar awe-striking sense of unity perfect for accentuating productive spaces. This high performing, fit for purpose backdrop can be used independently in any of the 30 colours or used as a matching coordinate together with the eye-catching patterns.
Often large companies will choose to purchase carbon credits rather than institute carbon-conscious practices in an effort to reach carbon neutrality. This is not the responsibility-first attitude that Above Left and Carpets Inter bring to their manufacturing processes. Committed to preventing pollution at the source, they are leading the charge for sustainable design by fighting to recycle and reduce plastic pollution, employing more than 90% clean energy sources, planting thousands of trees yearly, repurposing organic waste into agriculture and recycling waste for refuse-derived fuel.
One of the products which helped to make this all possible is EcoSoft, a high-performance carpet tile which has directly allowed for the repurpose of more than 20 million PET bottles which would otherwise go to landfill. Ecosoft is recognised by the International Living Future Institute as Red List Free and is composed of around 80% post-consumer discarded water bottles and 5% post-industrial recycled PET.
Flatlands with EcoSoft provides vastly superior acoustic abilities, including hugely effective sound absorption which reaches twice the noise cancelling capabilities of traditional hardback carpet tile. Creating a curated and productive space has never been easier with the high-performance abilities of Flatlands. Ideal for the modern school or workplace, Flatlands is available on the unique EcoSoft Acoustic Cushion Backing and 30 different colours.
