‘Binding the Senses’
Stylecraft, Alternative Surfaces and Mico Design with students from The Whitehouse Institute of Design
Stylecraft, Alternative Surfaces and Mico Design worked with The Whitehouse Institute of Design students this year to explore ‘The Sense of Movement’. This collaboration impressed visitors in the Darlinghurst precinct, where the students used recycled folders to create a dynamic installation throughout the spaces in the showrooms, an experiential version of The Project.
The Whitehouse Institute students called their Project, ‘Binding the Senses’, which involved an installation of recycled binders that connected Stylecraft (including Alternative Surfaces) and Mico showrooms. The physical installation included a magnificent binder chandelier in the centre of one showroom and a binder waterfall using Alternative Surfaces crystal quartz surface materials (accompanied by waterfall audio effects). With Bills chefs on-site for the day, the students also created a biinder herb garden that was used throughout the cooking process.
This particular Project was a great example of showrooms and students working together to bring people together – the outside area incorporated binder seating and grass laid out for people to mingle…
