Akira Isogawa’s collection for Designer Rugs features in one of Sydney’s newest entertainment hotspots.
December 21st, 2011
Visitors to The Darling Hotel at Sydney’s The Star entertainment precinct are greeted by a splash of colour underfoot, thanks to vibrant floorcoverings from Designer Rugs.
The Akira Isogawa-designed rugs were specially chosen for the project by interior designers Anna Goh and Erin Shaw (pictured above, with Isogawa) of DBI Design.
“The entry lobby is the guests’ first introduction to the hotel and our task was to create a welcoming space which whilst architecturally monumental in scale, is warm, inviting and has a sense of fun and occasion,” said Goh and Shaw.
Isogawa’s creations, they said, were selected as they “spoke volumes of Sydney’s potent cultural mix and free thinking spirit, whilst adding art and richness to the lobby lounge settings.”
The scale and colour of the rugs were customised by the team at Designer Rugs to ensure that they perfectly complemented the interior. The result is a rich, eye-catching addition centrepiece to a location that prides itself on its personality and design.
