WORKSHOPPED 2010 – IDL

Nurturing talented designers for Sydney Design 10.

WORKSHOPPED 2010 – IDL

March 17th, 2010

From its humble beginnings in 2001, WORKSHOPPED has nurtured Australian design by facilitating the commercial relationships between designers, industry and the marketplace.

Almost a decade on from debuting with five designers, 2009 saw the works of 30 top designers from all over Australia come together, including the works of Tomek Archer and Akira Isogawa.

WORKSHOPPED seeks out designers with products and ideas that they are ready to take into production, whether it is mass or minimal, and regardless of the production method.

Joining forces with the Powerhouse Museum each year, WORKSHOPPED identifies great Australian design and brings it to local and international attention exhibiting the chosen works as part of Sydney Design 10.

Responding each year to a different brief, designers are challenged to consider where their work fits in the world.

This year designers are asked to respond to a brief based on functional and enduring design – “Great design endures, demands attention and is fit for purpose.”

This year’s exhibition will be one of the single largest events of Sydney Design 10, hosted at Chifley Plaza and co-presented by the Powerhouse Museum.

Workshopped 10 is open and free to the public from 4 – 14 August 2010 at Chifley Plaza.
