Dulux is proud to announce the return of the ground-breaking ‘United by Style’ project that sees Australia’s leading paint specialist partner with fresh and innovative Australian fashion design teams to showcase the latest in fashion and interior trends.
Following the success of the initiative in its debut year, Dulux is thrilled to reveal that in 2014 they will be partnering with talented fashion duo Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales of Romance Was Born and iconic Melbourne designer Lisa Gorman of Gorman, both of which are set to appear on the runways at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival this March.

Drawing on the designer’s 2014 Autumn Winter collections, Dulux’s interior design team will create room designs that demonstrate inspiring and trend-setting techniques to take fashion colours straight from the runway into the home, under the direction of Dulux Stylist Bree Leech.
“Your home, like the clothes you wear, is very much an expression of your individual style. It’s great to be able to show through these partnerships how inspiration can be taken from the newest fashion trends and translated into the home with paint and decorative accessories,” said Leech.
With a focus on the girl from the land, Gorman’s Autumn 2014 collection Winter Harvest offers rich aubergine, plum and orange colours, prints in a range of magical symbols, winter vegetables and botanicals as well as a myriad of re-worked and distressed textures, as a springboard for the interior creations.

Lisa Gorman shared her excitement in working alongside paint specialist Dulux in an area that is near and dear to her, the home.
“My obsession with colour is most easily explained by the fact that my favourite book is my textile Pantone swatch book. It’s a bit like a massive Dulux paint swatch chart really, one glorious endless rainbow. I’m big on colour in the home. It’s the layering and balancing of texture, print, colour and scale that gives me joy… I don’t do neutral very well,” said Gorman.
Romance Was Born’s Autumn 2014 collection Dream On delivers the sense of whimsy and theatre we expect from the dynamic duo that, since winning the title of Melbourne Fashion Festival National Designer in 2008, has taken the design world by storm. A fun and hopeful collection, Dream On sees silhouettes reminiscent of a marching girl’s uniform, logos and motifs that hark back to the flower power movement and a fluidity that evokes a street wear vibe.

Speaking on behalf of the design team, Anna Plunkett described the significance of the collaboration.
“We put a lot of thought into who we align ourselves with and in a time of growth for us, it’s great to be able to flex our creative muscle with a project such as this and look to new and exciting opportunities to move into other avenues of design,” said Plunkett.
Gorman is announced to feature on the Festival’s Premium Runway 3, presented by Frankie on 19 March 2014. The Festival’s Opening Event presented by David Jones and supported by Vogue Australia on 17 March 2014 will showcase Autumn Winter looks from Romance Was Born, alongside other celebrated designers from the David Jones fashion family.
Dulux will again delight fashion festival-goers with an appearance by the official Dulux dog at Central Pier, Docklands throughout the 2014 Festival.
