Designers from down under waltz into The London Design Festival.
September 29th, 2010
London’s 9-day design festival might have wrapped up last week, but there’s still a chance to catch some highlights from the event.
In an inaugural exhibition at The Gallery on Redchurch Street in East London, the antipodes were well represented with the hottest design talent from down under being showcased to the design industry.
Pitched as Australia and New Zealand’s talents to watch, these 13 designers joined forces to launch their work for the first time in London, all in one location.
Running until Saturday 2 October, Matilda was opened by cookbook author Bill Granger, who was on hand to sign copies of his latest book Bill’s Basics.
Among the designer’s works on display were Trent Jansen, Cloth, F!NK, ilisas, Volker Haug, Husque, Korban Flaubert, Alexander Lotersztain, Luxxbox, Marc Pascal, Brian Steendyk, Dinosaur Designs and Street & Garden/Surya Graf.
Matilda extends beyond the gallery walls with an outdoor seating installation by Surya Graf for Street & Garden, on show at Southbank Centre Friday 17 September to 16 October.
