The merger between Donovan Hill and BVN heralds a new era and a fresh direction for both practices as an integrated national studio
October 23rd, 2012
Monday, the first day of trading under the new BVN Donovan Hill moniker and management structure saw the culmination of 18 months of discussions with the retention of all of Donovan Hill’s staff and an amalgamation of offices into the existing BVN Queensland studio on Alfred Street in Brisbane, Australia.
At a senior level, the installation of Brian Donovan and Paul Jones as Principals brings the number holding this position at BVN Donovan Hill to 15. Timothy Hill has taken a sabbatical.
“We are excited about this change to our work culture, which is embracing the culture of change endemic to business worldwide” says national director James Grose, “this has been a well-considered process of rigour and determination that has long recognised the happy syntheses between the two practices.”
The coming together of these established firms is expected to result in a richer mix of skills and proficiency.

The breadth of experience across a range of project sizes reflected in the fact that Donovan Hill’s 20 years in service saw it rise to become Queensland’s most nationally awarded practice and BVN with over 80 years boasts 396 national architecture, interior and urban design awards.

Committed to continuing trade as a local presence, Mr Grose continues:
“As an Australian practice our outlook is firmly global. Our approach is disciplined and generalist, guided by research and collaboration with recognised international specialists.”
