Guerrilla gARTening

Guerrilla gARTening

A sculptural garden spread across Brisbane for much of 2009.

We may have just missed it, but we couldn’t resist sharing the photos with you.

Throughout 2009, this garden of inflatable sculptures by Nicole Voevodin-Cash and Elizabeth Woods transformed some of Brisbane’s most iconic urban spaces.

LANDscapers made its debut at the 2009 Ideas Festival scaling the balconies of the Knowledge Walk at the State Library of Queensland.

It then blossomed in an explosion of colour at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Art, wound its way across the floor and up the walls of the Museum Of Brisbane, and took root in the stained glass window light under the vaulted ceilings of the Old Museum.

Redefining the way we view and interact with our city spaces, LANDscapers made its final appearance at the Suncorp Piazza at South Bank.

From end of September through to early October, LANDscapers infused the piazza with a strange and mystical air.

The voluminous garden of floating vines grew and bloomed over the seating of the piazza, and drew crowds of curious passers-by to interact with the artful landscape.

Managed by artisan idea:skill:product, the garden is rumoured to be popping up in other places, with a regional tour now being prepared…

You can read a review of the project in DQ magazine, Issue 34, July 2009.
