Australia was one of the world’s first countries to ban the importation of the incandescent light bulb.
In recent times we have seen an explosion in lighting products aimed at replacing the incandescent lamp. At first there were compact fluorescent lamps, and now there is a credible LED alternative with high efficiency, dimming, nice colour and a 25-year life expectancy.
How will light fixture design move to keep up with this development?
Designers with a passion for light, sustainability and new technology are invited to create something beautiful using a stylish plug, cable and the LED lamp.
Entries will be displayed in an exhibition for the duration of the festival. Selected entries will form a permanent installation, which will transform Donkey Wheel House forever, an example of how design can put something back into the community and really make a difference.
