From 17 - 27 February, the Global Gallery Paddington will showcase the best of contemporary Pacific Islands art.

Maketi Ples – from the Samoan word for ‘market’ and the Tokpisin word for ‘place’ – is an exhibition and marketplace featuring the fine work of Pacific Islands artists and artisans, including internationally renowned painters Martin Morububuna and Jeffry Feeger (see main image), and sculptor Gickmai Kundun.

Consumers, designers, retailers, importers and the media are invited to view the art of living master craftsmen and women living in the Pacific Islands.

Hosts Pacific Islands Trade & Invest will be bringing you the highest standard of paintings, scrap metal sculpture, basketry, weaving, fusion jewellery made from shells, traditional currency, silver and carved bone, wooden products and artisan pieces based on traditional knowledge.

Featured artists include designer John Maileseni and painters Peter Leo Ella and Jeffry Feeger, creative designer of the PNG showcase at the World Exposition in Shanghai.

Also showing will be Martin Morububuna, whose work can be found in major museums and galleries in Europe, USA and Australia, including the National Gallery of Australia. Since his first solo show Morububuna has worked on major public and private commissions for clients worldwide.
