The beauty of Sicilian sandstone, a material responsible for the distinct look of Sicily, is now available in a tile format thanks to Italian brand Imola, and in Singapore thanks to Hafary.

Just off the ‘toe’ of Italy’s boot is the island of Sicily – a cultural melting pot that is home to no less than seven UNESCO World Heritage sites that have inspired creatives for generations. The island is one of the most visually recognisable places in the world, thanks to its heritage towns and distinct baroque architectural masterpieces.
Sandstone is one of the relatively hidden gems on the island. Soft, fairly porous, and available in a variety of colours ranging from yellow and white to greige and dark grey, the Sicilian sandstone has been widely used in Sicily’s historic cities like Siracusa, Noto and Modica, for centuries. It plays an important role in crafting the image of the island.
Founded in 1874, Cooperativa Ceramica d’Imola (Imola) is one of Italy’s leading ceramic tile manufacturers. The company has set the benchmark in Italy’s ceramic sector by balancing tradition and innovation to interpret the needs of the market. Thanks to Imola, the rugged beauty of the Sicilian sandstone is now available in tile format.
Sicily is a glazed porcelain tile collection that is suitable for both floor and wall application. The collection comprises four colours in various formats, as well as a mosaic version that includes all the colour variants. Each tile is unique, featuring subtle variation in texture and colour just like natural stone.
Sicily is a versatile tribute to the island’s wilderness and layered history that looks equally at home when inside a classic architectural shell filled with ornate furniture or inside a completely modern space and paired with contemporary furniture.
A curated selection of Sicily tiles is available in Singapore from leading tile purveyor Hafary. The Sicily variants in stock at Hafary showroom include the 1200 x 600mm tiles in grey (G) and dark grey (DG).
Don’t really have the time to come down and select the tiles in person? Don’t worry, for that there is the Hafary App, through which you can browse the tiles, save the list and share them.
