Introduced at Salone del Mobile in Milan last year, Herman Miller’s Cosm chair is designed to accommodate the workers and workplaces in the age of disruption, where the office landscape might change from day to day and the chair and desk one use today may not be the same chair and desk one will use tomorrow.
Designed by German-based practice Studio 7.4, Cosm chair is Herman Miller’s first task chair with an automatic tilt and suspension armrests that democratises comfort in the workplace.
The Auto-Harmonic Tilt allows the chair to automatically adjust to the sitters’ body using the downward force generated by their own bodyweight, eliminating the need to readjust the chair every time it changes user.
A tilt is to a chair what a transmission is to a car, and like transmissions, some are manual, and others, such as Cosm’s, are automatic.
“You should have a chair that allows you to change postures as easily as possible. You can only do that with a chair that is correctly adjusted, so we wanted to build a chair that does that part for you,” states the team at Studio 7.5.
Anyone, regardless of body shape, height and sizes will experience the most comfortable sitting posture for their body, eliminating the need to manually readjusting the chair every time someone new sits on it.
Cosm chair innovative mesh suspension system features a continuous contour that envelops the user’s body, delivering secure yet dynamic support. In clips into the thin yet sturdy frame that allows flexing so the user can comfortably move their upper body.
Cosm is available in three heights and as a stool, as well as six colours comprising three new saturated tones and three classic Herman Miller options.
The three saturated tones are Nightfall (navy blue), Glacier (powder blue), and Canyon (red) while the three classics are Graphite, Carbon and Studio White. All components of Cosm are colour-matched.
Always accommodating the need to express individuality and or corporate identity, Herman Miller also offers the option to mix and match different coloured-parts.
