We all know Flexform for its emphasis on a style that transcends the fads of fashion – one that is contemporary, coherent and reassuringly elegant. Now the Singapore market has access to products from the brand’s parallel collection Flexform MOOD, conveniently displayed in the Flexform flagship space at Newton Road.

Flexform MOOD blends the contemporary with the classic – a little more eclectic than its sister brand but just as elegant and with the same emphasis on quality. Flexform MOOD captures hints of Art Deco and retro styles, but does so in a way that avoids unnecessary embellishments and refines details to a tee.

The Flexform MOOD 2018 collection, which was unveiled at the Salone del Mobile earlier this year, shows how Art Director Stefano Gaggero has brought a bolder feel to the new pieces. This is Gaggero’s second year as Art Director, and he drew inspiration from European modernism, using an architecturally influenced geometric approach and focusing on materials such as premium woods, marbles and lacquer finishes in colours such as China Blue.

Benjamin

The Benjamin desk for example, designed by Samuel Accoceberry, features two overlapping tops placed at an angle to create a comfortable nook for work and meals, either solo or with a collaborator or companion. The desk is offered in a glossy lacquer finish with marble panels on the interior sides of its base. It can also be accessorised with a drawer with matching lacquer finish.

Josef

Accoceberry also designed the Josef table, putting a new spin on the traditional refectory table with faceted edges and its mix of triangular and square profiles. The table is produced in stained ash.

Biarritz

His Biarritz bed has an oversized padded and upholstered headboard that carves out a private realm within a larger space. The headboard consists of three hinged panels that can be positioned along one axis or angled to create privacy. The repetitive curved profile of the upholstered padding (framed by burnished metal) has an architectural quality that suits the scale of headboard. The base is a generous padded platform.

Lucien

The Lucien sofa, designed by Gaggero, has an emphasis on geometric lines ­– vertical and horizontal – drawn from modernism. The quilted motif on the seat cushions, however, provides a subtle graphic embellishment. Lucien is also available as a daybed.
