“Protection is something very important that we all need and that is something that I want to translate into my architectural and design work,” said Vincent Van Duysen of his work. The Belgian architect and designer is the current Creative Director of Molteni Group’s furniture brand Molteni&C and kitchen brand Dada. And he has expressed this ethos with a slew of products that communicates comfort and quality ranging from furniture pieces and storage to kitchen systems.
Launched this year at Salone del Mobile, two of his latest furniture pieces for Molteni&C are the perfect blend of tradition and technology.
Albert is a family of modular sofa units with a clean-cut aesthetic and a wide variety of modules to suit today’s dynamic living space. The Albert family comprises central elements (available in three sizes and two seat depths), end elements (available in two sizes), an island element and a pouf (available in two sizes) that can be mixed and matched to create the desired configuration.
Albert features a double backrest cushioning, which comprises traditional backrest cushions (cushions that can be detached from the module) and quilted back cushions (cushions that are attached to the structure of the chair). This cushion layering does not only add extra comfort but also serve as a means to adjust the depth of the seat, making it easier for users to lean forward or backward during during conversations.
Albert modules sport an impeccable tailoring, with a double seam that accentuated the clean-cut aesthetic. The fabric and leather coverings of the seat modules are completely removable for ease of maintenance.
Albert goes well with Hugo. Another perfect blend of tradition and technology, Hugo is a family of small tables that combines an age-old material with a contemporary aesthetic.
Hugo comprises two planes with bevelled edges connected by two plinths, resulting in an elegant minimalist silhouette with two generous functional surfaces.
The structure is available in Graphite Oak with the options of Oriental Grey or Dark Emperador marble for its upper table top. Hugo is available in square and rectangular varieties, each in two sizes. Pairs Hugo with Albert to bring an unmistakably contemporary touch to your space.
In Singapore, Molteni&C is available from P5.
