The winning team of a collaborative design challenge – held during the Archifest 2016 – is now auctioning their prizes for charity.
November 23rd, 2016
In conjunction with Archifest 2016, Temasek Polytechnic organised the Collaborative Design Challenge to educate its students on the importance of collaboration when it comes to solving design problems and sustainability issues. Four teams of designers, manufacturers and students were challenged to identify a problem and to address it by developing a functional product using only recycled materials.
The winning team, comprising five students from Temasek Polytechnic as well as individuals from Space Matrix, DBS, Humanscale and Space Logic, focused on creating a product that would help individuals overcome various discomforts in the workplace. After weeks of development, the team conceived a multi-functional laptop holder, Poketto. Portable and collapsible, the cardboard laptop stand doubles up as a mobile footrest and back support. It is also something that anybody can easily make.
The team is now auctioning their prizes – three stools and a castor chair from the Karimoku New Standard range, provided by Stylecraft – to raise funds for the World Wildlife Fund in Singapore to give back to the environment.
