Winners Of The First Salone del Mobile.Milano Award

Organisers of the annual design event Salone del Mobile have recognised the best in the design industry with a new and special accolade, the Salone del Mobile.Milano Award. The prize aims to place the best and latest design products and solutions in the international spotlight. “Its mission is to deliver targeted recognition of the value of ideas, of creativity, of innovation and of technology,” says the team.

There are a total of eight awarding categories, including Best Product – Chairs/Upholstered Section, Furnishing Systems, Kitchen Section and Bathroom Section, Best Display, Best Young Designer, Best Designer, and Special Jury.

A craftsman-designer, Giacomo Moor received the Best Young Designer accolade for his unique ability to translate his profound production knowledge and ideas into objects of commercial viability. Konstantin Grcic was named Best Designer, as he is able to constantly “express new aesthetic connotations, while remaining true to his own rigorous technical and expressive language.”

Members of the jury were kept secret until recently to maintain the integrity of the award. Each member of the jury visited Salone del Mobile to shortlist their nominations anonymously. The jury included high profile design personalities such as Silvana Annicchiarico, Director of the Triennale Design Museum, Milan; Domitilla Dardi, Design Curator of the MAXXI in Rome; and Davide Rampello, Professor of Arts and Regional Skills at Milan Polytechnic University to name a few.
