The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman
The good folks at Herman Miller have introduced a new version of the well-loved Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman in a ’lighter’ material. The shell of the chair now comes in white ash veneer and is finished with a process that arrests the material in its natural, ’freshly-cut’ state. The result is a creamy colour that will not yellow or golden over time.
In the new version, all powder-coated accents on the metal base have also been updated to white and the seat is fitted with new MCL leather in pearl.
Select Nelson tray table
Herman Miller has brought back the 1961 George Nelson tray table from its archives.
The special 2011 edition, which features a tabletop also in white ash, is an update from the mid-century original done in walnut or teak veneer.
Here, the 5-ply veneer construction, with inner plies of bay poplar, ensures the top remains stable through changes in humidity and years of use.
Key to the special edition is a walnut and santos palisander inlay inspired by Nelson’s 1955 Flock of Butterflies clock.
The tray table is available as 2 products, a complete table and a standalone tray. As with the original, the 2011 edition is presented in a special take-home container similar in size to a pizza box. Available for order from now till February 2012.
Herman Miller is carried in Singapore at Xtra.
