Impronta goes on show in 6 bathroom settings designed by Singaporean creatives.
July 18th, 2012
The Impronta 125 washbasin – a collaboration between contemporary Italian bathroom fitting company Catalano and architects Doriana E and Massimiliano Fuksas – was put in the spotlight recently during Hemsley’s 40th anniversary celebration at Singapore’s red dot museum.
For Catalano, the Impronta series marks the first of many such partnerships with renowned designers, and to call attention to the pivotal collection, Hemsley approached local creatives from different design fields to create unique bathroom environments to highlight the products in a showcase titled “Endless Possibilties”.
Glossy by Wykidd Song
Working with Collective Designs, local fashion designer Wykidd Song covered the floors, walls and ceiling with (you guessed it) glossy pages from fashion and tabloid magazines. Colourful, bold and a real jolt to the sense, the inspiration came from the common habit of sneaking in a quick read in the bathroom.
Traces of Nature by Yeo Shih Yun
Like her art pieces, Singaporean artist Yeo Shih Yun’s bathroom, done in collaboration with Carpenter’s Workshop, was a nature-inspired oasis featuring rustic materials such as minimally-processed wood panels.
Earthbound by Space + Dimensions
Moving away from the shiny surfaces of glazed tiles, Earthbound by Space + Dimensions displayed an earthy and natural vibe with its timber-patterned walls and stone-like patterned flooring.
Starblind by Space + Dimensions
Starblind played with contrast and texture, combining a sense of poise and refinement with solace and privacy.
Velis by Ta-Ke
Taking inspiration from sails, Velis by Ta-Ke evoked a sense of lightness and strength. It also represented a technological challenge in terms of pushing the boundaries of ceramic material in manufacturing.
Muse by Ta-ke
In Greek mythology, Muse is one of the nine daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus, a guiding spirit and a source of inspiration who leads mankind into a state of meditation. In this space, layers of walls were accentuated by diffused lights, creating a highly atmospheric experience.
