The design community was down at Chan Hampe Galleries first thing in the morning to hear Australia’s howwecreate.com / PALAMONT give an inspiring presentation on product manufacturing.

Following their much talked about project at last year’s Saturday in Design, BW Furniture in collaboration with SCA and Lasalle College of the Arts set the bar even higher this year with a captivating series of optical illusions that underscored the uniqueness of products from Okamura, BOSS, HAG and Vitra.

At W. Atelier, TOTO’s Le Muse Suite by acclaimed architect and designer Francesco Lucchese was put on show, along with fine Italian furniture from Novamobili and lights from Vertigo Bird.

Then it was down to the Space Asia Hub for an experience with design’s foremost brands. The crowds got to preview the latest Moooi 2012 collection, strike their wackiest pose in the Moooi photo booth, and savour delectable treats by Chef Michael Han of FiftyThree restaurant at the Varenna kitchen with the chance to win an exclusive Gaggenau dining experience. It was also a rare opportunity to catch a talk by Australia’s Dinosaur Designs and see their ultra lush fashion and home accessories up close.

At the nearby YAVUZ Fine Art gallery, Haworth stopped traffic with a huge sculpture carved out of Ege carpets. Upstairs, guests rested in a colourful pop-up lounge filled with Haworth x Friends furniture and got to see the big reveal of Matzform furniture in Singapore.

The crowd at Foundry was then invited to add cardboard pieces to a rapidly expanding installation titled “Concrete Jungle”. Also on show were the newest products from SCP and the Foundry collection, and the latest brand in store, Hanna Korvela.

An impressive and captivating line up of guest speakers included Sociology Professor Adrian Franklin of ABC’s The Collectors, Architect and Creative Director Alex Ritchie of E2 and Principal Curator Paul Donnelly of the Powerhouse Museum, each “telling their stories” of collecting while discussing and displaying their most beloved and coveted pieces of furniture and design.
