‘after 2’

August 27th, 2011

’after 2’, the annual exhibition by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) year 3 students is back.

This year, more than 20 furniture prototypes by 3D Design students, created when they were in year 2 of their study, will be shown in a showcase titled ’Boundaries’.

’Jiggle’ partition by Kelvin Loh using plywood and shellac lacquer

Using a range of material such as plywood, foam, acrylic, wire, metal, light bulbs and the highly unusual condoms, PVC pipes, plungers, zips, vintage metal basins and trays, magnets, chopsticks and even hay, the students have challenged themselves, experimenting with all resources to create partitions, tables and chairs.

’Dobbie!’ stool/magazine storage by Marcella Ekaputri Tandiono & Irene Hardanta using FRC wood and metal chains

This exhibition is unique because it showcases the processes of the students’ investigations from observation, development, and curiosity to challenge and enquire, to develop their final solution.

All furniture pieces are for sale. Proceeds will be used to finance the students’ year 3 study trip and the production of their final year project.
