Two new dining establishments in the Asia Pacific region showcase the marvels of bespoke design in creating a particular mood. Tokyo’s Kushi bar and Sydney based Single Origin Roasters’ second venue appear quite different on the surface, yet they both speak to the importance of materials and interiors when designing commercial space.

Luchetti Krelle has designed Single Origin Roasters’ new venue in Botany, which features bespoke product design by DesignByThem. The Timber Tuck Stool and Table both complement the industrial feel of the café and speak to the importance of sustainability for both designers DesignByThem and Single Origin Roasters.

Single Origin Roasters

With a large open area, Tokyo’s Kushi bar stands out from the crowd through its use of DuPont Corian as the core material for the space. The translucent pillars throughout the restaurant serve as glowing signage for the restaurant, drawing in pedestrians from the street. Inspired by the phenomenon of the mixing of water and oil, the free flowing design of the area has the DuPoint Corian pillars mellow the light and calm the standing bar.

Kushi Bar

Whether the design is intended to convey a cool, calm modernity or a rustic and honest genuine sense of sustainability, a planned and concerned sense of bespoke design shows off the importance of choice.

DesignByThem’s Timber Tuck Stool and Table are available through the designer’s custom collection and are available in any colour from the Dulux Powder Coat. The DuPont Corian surfacing is available through CASF for a variety of purposes.
