A suite of new luxury apartments in Melbourne is the home for a new world of kitchen design, where world-class aesthetics and precise functionality are fused in harmony.
As designers, we’re undeniably visual creatures, often obsessing over the minutia and finer details of a design to get it just right and determine what ‘good design’ looks like. Gaggenau knows this, with centuries of luxury kitchen design under their collective belt, but the design team take it a step further, what does good design taste like?
The residents of Derby Place in the Melbourne suburb of Kew would be well placed to answer. The luxury apartments have come fully furnished with a deluxe suite of Gaggenau’s exceptional 200 series ovens, fully integrated dishwashers, 5-burner cooktops and range hoods. These kitchens are more than places to prepare food; these are culinary testing zones – entertaining spaces where design is truly put through its paces.
“The perfect compliment to natural stone”
Owned, developed, and built by Crema Group, and designed by award winning Melbourne-based practices Fender Katsalidis Architects and CBG Architects, interiors at Derby Place are appointed with sumptuous material finishes and fixtures. The sleek fascia of Gaggenau’s ovens and appliances provide “the perfect compliment to the natural stone and bespoke joinery” within residences, says interior architect Pietro Giordano, while the high impact display suite on site has already hosted a series of functions, with food prepared on Gaggenau appliances by master chef Joseph Vargetto of Mister Bianco and Massi restaurants.
“The Derby Place purchasers have been drawn to the classic, timeless design of the kitchen,” says Katya Crema, associate director and sales & marketing manager at Crema Group. Crema’s collaboration with Gaggenau was built upon “a shared respect for beauty and functionality,” resulting in a series of considered homes, centered around togetherness, functionality and the cooking experience.
“Traditional Avant-Garde”
This shared respect for both beauty and functionality has been an idea central to the design ethos of Gaggenau since its inception over 300 years ago. This philosophy carries itself over to what Managing Director of Gaggenau Asia Pacific Denise Tan called the “traditional avant-garde”, a design space where “timeless craftsmanship meets innovative design authentic; uncompromising and extraordinary by every means”
Long beloved by the design community and equally celebrated by those with a passion for cooking, Gaggenau continues to stand as the definite brand for designers looking to cater to the creative home cook with a taste for the finer things, and an eye for quality.
