Former New Zealand Architect Opens Chic Moku Boutique on Sydney’s Oxford st

You constantly hear of architects turned designers, and even architects turned engineers – but its not often you hear of an architect turned fashionista.

“It was always hard being a fashion lover when you have to trump around in concrete and mud with your steel cap boots” says Lin Lin, owner of the new Moku Boutique on Sydney’s happening Oxford Street. So after a decade of architecture, her fashion alter-ego is free.

This must-see concept boutique showcases the very best New Zealand fashion has to offer. Soon to become a favorite destination for serious shoppers, the Moku Boutique customer can experience cutting-edge and creative fashions carefully hand picked by owner Lin Lin who grew up and worked in New Zealand.

After graduating from University of Auckland, Lin Lin pursued a career in architecture, working with some of New Zealand’s best architects on a number of high profile projects ranging from the urban design of a waterfront precinct to a communal library and residential houses in Shanghai.

Lin’s architectural background is evident upon entering the boutique. The store benefits from minimalist yet stylish décor, designed by Lin herself.

“I designed and managed the fit-out of the boutique with the intention of reflecting the simple, natural and rustic aesthetic culture of New Zealand, using simple colours, and a collection of hand-picked feature pieces from Sydney and Auckland,” she said.

Moku Boutique stocks a feast of ready-to-wear, hand-selected pieces from around twenty key New Zealand labels including Citizen, Hailwood, Huffer, Involved, Juliette Hogan, Kathryn Wilson, Laurie Foon, MAW, Penny Fogel, RJC, Richard Moore, Saben, Salasai, Sera Lilly, Starfish, Stitch Ministry, Stolen Girlfriends Club and Workshop Denim.
