August sees the arrival of high-end kitchen and wardrobe manufacturer Studio Becker, in Australia for the very first time.
July 20th, 2011
Based in San Francisco, designed in Italy and manufactured in Germany, Studio Becker is a truly trans-continental operation – and they’re soon to be available in Australia.
In demand across Europe and the US for their range of high-end kitchens and wardrobes, Studio Becker’s coveted Ultimate Home Collection will bring thoughtful, forward-thinking design and the highest quality cabinetry to an Australian market hungry for classic, creative, customisable furnishings.
The Studio Becker showroom, in inner-city Redfern, will officially open its doors on 20 August at Saturday in Design.
The 750sqm warehouse – previously home to Rolling Stone magazine – will be as much a drawcard as the products themselves. Designed by national award-winning architect Dale Jones-Evans, the space will function as a display theatre and art gallery, regularly featuring guest artists.
Bespoke walk-in wardrobes and bedroom storage solutions will be housed on the first floor. Downstairs will be home to high-end, exclusive bespoke kitchens installed in a theatrical “black box” concept space.
Studio Becker’s journey to Australia began when Fiona Lochtenberg – who is responsible for bringing the brand to our shores – stumbled across a store in San Francisco with a mysterious black façade.
Once ushered in, “what followed was a tour around a veritable Aladdin’s Cave of kitchens, each of jaw-dropping craftsmanship and design,” Lochtenberg recalls.
“The innovative design and quality of everything, down to the smallest accessory was like nothing I had ever seen before.”
Visitors to the new Sydney showroom can expect the same sense of drama and mystery – and the same sense of having stumbled across a truly spectacular range of products.
