A pioneering collection by Jasper Morrison for Rado.
March 18th, 2010
The elegant new collection from Rado, who for more than 20 years have been the pioneering users of high tech ceramics in the watch making industry.
Designed by renowned British designer, Jasper Morrison – the r5.5 demonstrates his distinctive design philosophy which ensures products are practical and reduced to only the essential items.
The r5.5 collection is the third stage of collaboration between Jasper Morrison and Rado, following the re-design of Rado’s iconic Ceramica timepiece and Rado watch packaging.
A square case with curved edges gives a distinctive look. Named after its radius, the case integrates into the bracelet with the links gradually reducing so it appears as one.
There are a total of 8 models available – one size, all water-resistant to 30M, hypo-allergenic and lightweight.
The chronograph models are reduced to their bare essentials – three hands, two counters, a date at 3 o’clock, all lying under the flat sapphire crystal.
The basic models also play on this minimalist elegance – three hands, date at 3 o’clock, gently lying under flat sapphire crystal.
White luminous hands are brought to life by the stunning black sunbrushed dial.
Bold and definitive – these timekeeping triumphs are set to be a new design classic.
