2018 is the 75th anniversary year for Norwegian design brand HÅG, and to celebrate they’re releasing a limited edition version of their iconic Capisco chair.
October 10th, 2018
HÅG, part of the Flokk group, design and manufacture high quality, sustainable furniture for the workplace and at home. Driven by the philosophy that Movement is life, HÅG’s unique Balance technology keeps your body moving throughout the day, providing a healthy and comfortable seating experience. This year, HÅG is celebrating 75 years of movement.
To mark this anniversary, HÅG is launching a limited edition of one of their most iconic chairs – the Capisco Copper. The chair has an elegant copper coated aluminium base, paying homage to the historic roots of HÅG’s hometown and former copper mining town Røros, Norway.
Since the late 1950s, all of HÅG’s chairs have been produced in this historic Norwegian town, renowned for its craftsmanship and its stunning natural scenery. Towards the end of the once flourishing copper mining industry here, the arrival of HÅG was much appreciated, and is still an essential part of the Røros community today.
The original Capisco chair was designed in 1984 by the Norwegian industrial designer, Peter Opsvik. Few furniture designs withstand the test of time as well as the HÅG Capisco. Opsvik has challenged the concept of sitting since the 1970s. Following his principal “the best posture is always the next one”, Opsvik created a chair that follows the natural movement of the body, encouraging a healthy posture and lifestyle.
When Peter Opsvik designed the Capisco, he was attempting to overcome stereo-typical sitting habits with unconventional seating solutions. Inspired by a horseback rider’s posture, the pioneering saddle seat and overall unique shape offers endless ways to sit or half stand. Front ways, back ways or sideways, whatever feels most comfortable next.
The limited edition model comes in four different fabrics, including Norwegian wool and leather. This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of HÅG and Scandinavian design history. Check out the Capisco Copper Limited Edition range here.
