As iconic furniture brand Ercol nears its 100 year anniversary, and we in Australia get a visit from the great grandson of its founder Lucian Ercolani, we take a look at local distributor Temperature Design and the brand they’ve brought down under.
What does a teenager have in common with someone nearly 100 years old? First impressions might suggest not a whole lot, and yet some how Ercol, established in 1920, sits right home with Temperature Design, who have been supplying furniture, lighting and accessories from international brands to Australia and New Zealand since 2005.
A small team at Temperature Design allows them stay close to their clients, constantly evaluating and re-evaluating the needs of the market – and adjusting their collections accordingly.
Ercol, just one of the European furniture brands they exclusively supply, has a similar approach to client connection – and transparency. Since inception ninety-something years ago, Ercol has held genuine design at its core: design for function, comfort and beauty.
From their range of sideboards, shelving units, bookcases, display cabinets, lounges, chairs, coffee tables, side tables, desks and media units at Temperature Design, you might see a contemporary piece from their current design team, or you might see one of their iconic designs from the 50s and 60s.
But they’re all cohesive.
