A recent project by Bijl Architecture in collaboration with AR-MA in the Sydney suburb of Willoughby demonstrates a boldly innovative application of Corian® product, creating a powerfully compelling aesthetic effect and consequently winning the Corian® Residential Wild Card Award for Quarter 3 2013.

The De-Form Wall, a CNC routed Corian® panel wall installation alongside a custom cantilevered stairway, forms the centrepiece of a new residence designed and project managed by Bijl Architecture. The wall installation needed to be robust as well as beautiful, workable for the design demands, and resistant to UV due to its location under two large skylights over the stair void. Corian® was chosen for the aesthetic qualities and material integrity it was able to bring to this highly detailed design with respect to colour consistency, luminosity, UV resistance, workability and robustness. Corian® Glacier Ice panels were then also used for the soffit of the cantilevered stair integrated with the DE-Form Wall.
The Glacier White wall panels feature a CNC routed motif produced from a detailed digital design and physical prototyping process. The lines which form the design were cut with a specially developed tool in order to produce particular angles and effects, as well as reduce the occurrence of “artefacts’ on the finished surface. This produces the effect of very fine lines and shadows – the wall is located near large skylights which bring light onto the wall, illuminating the various routed patterns in different ways throughout the day. The stair landing soffit allows the landing to float, backlit by the Spicon Matrix LED lighting system.
The use of Corian® in the De-Form Wall installation has allowed the rigorous design and prototyping process to come to a full and impressive fruition for Bijl’s clients, in the form of a unique, endlessly fascinating surface in the centre of their new home.

In design, the concept of absence is particularly powerful – it’s the abundant potential of deliberate non-presence that amplifies the impact of what is. And it is this realm of sophisticated subtraction that Gaggenau’s Dishwasher 400 Series so generously – and quietly – occupies.
In this candid interview, the culinary mastermind behind Singapore’s Nouri and Appetite talks about food as an act of human connection that transcends borders and accolades, the crucial role of technology in preserving its unifying power, and finding a kindred spirit in Gaggenau’s reverence for tradition and relentless pursuit of innovation.
Within the intimate confines of compact living, where space is at a premium, efficiency is critical and dining out often trumps home cooking, Gaggenau’s 400 Series Culinary Drawer proves that limited space can, in fact, unlock unlimited culinary possibilities.
Now more than ever, our surfaces require the highest level of sanitisation possible. With nowhere to hide, Corian Solid Surfaces have the perfect surface application to keep you safe and healthy.
