Steelcase introduces the latest in flexible ‘collaborative seating’ with the cobi™ and i2i™ chairs.
August 24th, 2009
The workplace is evolving. No longer are we sitting in one spot for long hours. Communication and collaboration are becoming more and more important to a healthy working environment.
Working collaboratively with others means a whole new set of working positions and postures. It is with this in mind that Steelcase introduces the cobi™ task chair and i2i™ conference chair, from the new category of collaborative seating.
The cobi task chair offers supreme flexibility – with every part of the chair designed to flex and adjust automatically to your body. The flexible seat encourages movement and allows you to sit comfortably – either centred or to the sides – while the flexible back supports the spine regardless of your position.
The cobi offers more than simple task seating, it automatically adjusts to your needs. The only manual adjustment is for seat height; the rest is done for you the moment you sit down. ’¨’¨The cobi’s weight-activated mechanism ‘senses’ your centre of gravity, adjusting to your needs while providing support, and as you shift it automatically corrects.
The i2i conference chair employs the same intuitive flexibility as the cobi and offers a dual swivel mechanism that allows the seat and back to swivel independently, helping you to, shift, move and focus; keeping ‘eye-to-eye’ and ‘eye-to-information’ in meetings.’¨
However, cobi and i2i don’t just offer support for your body, they’re also looking after the environment. Working closely with McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry, Steelcase has only selected materials that are safe for human and environmental health.
The recyclable cobi and i2i have Cradle to Cradle certification and both have Indoor Advantage™ certification from Scientific Certification Systems as being low emitting products.
Work has never been so flexible and so collaborative as with the new cobi and i2i chairs from Steelcase.’¨
