We all love going to industry events – no question about it. But every now and again I find myself hosted with such care and consideration that I depart from the experience feeling extra special. It was with that deep sense of satisfaction that I look back on the Stylecraft x Tacchini dinner held in Melbourne.
But it was so much bigger than just a dinner.
To celebrate her first trip to Australia, CEO and art director of the Italian brand, Giusi Tacchini, was the guest of honour at two intimate lunch and dinner events, held by Stylecraft in Sydney and Melbourne.
Stylecraft, incredibly excited to be hosting the elegant and personable Guisi in Australia, chose with care, two venues to host the Italian brand’s breathtaking furniture and accessories, and key members of the Australian architecture and design industry.
In Sydney, Beta provided a graceful backdrop of exposed brick and high arches, while in Melbourne, the Immigration Museum Long Room provided a grand and opulent setting marked by Ionic columns.
Stylecraft with Tacchini had thoughtfully curated a series of Tacchini furniture settings, ‘magical moments’ dotted around the event space, composed of pieces from its latest home collection, ‘Life and Other Stories’. Each was a discovery and a retreat. Designs characterised by a balance of forms, which appeared almost sculptural, quickly revealed themselves to be incredibly inviting and comfortable.
As Giusi says, Tacchini’s furniture is made for conversation, enhancing a sense of togetherness, eschewing our all-too-common tv-meet-sofa habits. Tacchini’s pieces certainly speak to this.
Encompassed within the ‘Life and Other Stories’ collection are new designs as well as reissued design classics. Giusi has been instrumental in bringing the Tacchini collection of Design Classics to light, feeding her archeological passion for discovering the past. And in doing so, lighting the way for the future of Tacchini.
The result is a fusion of timelessness and classic design that distinguishes the Tacchini collection, and provides a frame for its furniture, lighting and accessories both historical and new.
A particular highlight for these four events was the intimate ‘in conversation’ that flowed between Giusi, her interpreter (Stylecraft’s own Valentina Marzella) and moderator Dana Tomic Hughes of Yellowtrace. Their friendly and relaxed rapport made for a rich conversation, filled with personal insights, stories shared and, for the audience of spell-bound listeners, a deeper understanding of what makes Tacchini so magical.
