Ten-year milestone for Melbourne Architecture firm

Plus Architecture celebrated their ten-year anniversary in November with a party at the recently completed Duttons car showroom in Melbourne (pictured).

While a working decade is a landmark achievement for any firm, the occasion was particularly significant for Plus due to their unique beginnings. Born out of two parent companies in 1997 – Fender Katsalidis and SJB Architects – Plus was formed to undertake the design of the MAB Docklands project.

Currently directed by Charles Justin, Craig Yelland, Ian Briggs, Karl Fender and Rainer Strunz, Plus has since grown to become a medium-sized architecture firm, leaving a mark on Melbourne’s design fabric, with their sustainability driven design philosophy.

Now employing over 30 people, Plus has just received its first international commission: the redesign of the Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet in New York (read more about this project in the indesignlive.com projects section).

To top off a big year, Plus was also short-listed in the Inside Design Excellence Awards for Best Commercial Interior, for their Sestriere Investments office fitout.
