A little bundle of joy can quickly turn minimalist interior designs into a colourful chaos of baby paraphernalia. But one design studio is bringing hope to design conscious mums and dads.

Having a baby isn’t all pastels, gaudy mobiles and kitschy stuffed toys. New Dutch design studio, Puur, are catering to design-savvy parents with their cutting-edge babyC cradle.

Made of wood and lightweight polyethylene, babyC was inspired by the warm, closed environment of the mother’s womb. Puur say, with no moving parts, the solid form cradle is easily rocked with one hand.

Designer, Dripta Roy, says he creates statements as much as functional designs. His smooth, sleek spherical cradle certainly makes a statement and would be at home in the most modern interiors.

At the upper end of the cradle market, the babyC won’t be within everyone’s grasp, but for those design conscious new parents not willing to compromise, this cradle is bound to impress.

The babyC comes in white only and a tailor-made mattress can also be ordered.
