First prize at the recent Promosedia International Design Competition – Caiazza Memorial Challenge was awarded to Tomas Alonso for his Nube Chair.

The innovative design of Tomás Alonso’s Nube Chair reinterprets tradition, taking obvious inspiration from the classic Thonet chair – updated using modular construction, colour and contemporary lines.
Spanish-born Alonso has a postgraduate diploma in Product Design from the Royal College of Art and has travelled extensively in the US, Australia France and Italy.
Prototypes of the winning models will be exhibited and prizes given at the Promosedia 2008 International Chair Exhibition, 13 – 16 September 2008.
