He is the man who made ’that jug’, and he is helping to turn the tables on design and manufacturing.
September 23rd, 2008
Robert Foster is the man behind, what has become, a very famous jug – the F!NK Jug. More than just a designer, Foster is a craftsman with a true gift for aesthetics and great technical ability.
A trained ‘silversmith’, Foster began his design and manufacturing company, F!NK + Co. in Canberra 1993. With a focus on individual designs with their "own comical persona," Foster’s designs are contemporary and seriously quirky.
He has developed a number of unique manufacturing processes, believing strongly in the integrity of design. F!NK prefer to change the processes to suit the design, rather than compromise the design to accommodate production limitations.
Foster has pieces in galleries and museums around Australia, including the Australian National Gallery and Parliament House, and international collections in London, Scotland, Germany, Italy, Portugal and the US.
F!INK – under the direction of Foster – continue to produce iconic Australian designs, taking commissions for high-profile restaurants, hotels and corporations.
F!NK + Co offer a range of 24 products, from the Jug to candelabras and jewellery.
Visit the F!NK website for their full product range and details on Robert Foster’s most recent designs.
