Australia’s Phoenix Tapware were awarded internationally renowned iF Product Design Awards in 2014, recognising a company who from humble beginnings has grown to a position of strength and design leadership within the industry.
October 31st, 2014
Founded in 1989, Phoenix Tapware base themselves on the principles of design, quality and customer service. Starting small, and established by Brian Wansbrough, who also founded Gainsborough Hardware, the Melbourne company began by manufacturing high quality, heritage style three piece tapware and accessories and have grown to become one of the dominant producers of bathroom products in Australia, producing tapware, showers and bathroom accessories.
From 2005, under new senior management, the company set about overhauling Phoenix’s approach to design and quality, whilst building on the company’s founding principles. With that, Phoenix Tapware have only enjoyed successes since – their recent win a fine example.
The three winning designs are the first Australian-designed bathroom products to have won iF Design awards. Kawa, Ortho and Milli Axon mixers were all created in response to a growing demand for statement bathroom pieces.
Milli Axon had a successful release in 2013 and is currently available exclusively through Reece Bathrooms. Kawa and Ortho are due for release in 2015.
This is a tremendous accomplishment for the Phoenix in-house design team who will each be adding these to a growing list of design recognition and awards. Along with patenting new technologies, mastering a two-tone material approach and ensuring each product is of the best quality, their relentless focus on design and innovation ensures customers will always enjoy the best bathroom experience.
