July 14th, 2011
The Public Library Design Forum will be held on Thursday 29th September. Hear engaging speakers, including architects, library managers and library makeover experts speak about library design from a range of perspectives. State Library of Queensland has set aside a day to consider these and other library design issues with library and local government managers, architects and library consultants.
Hear from Louise Schaper, from the Library Journal’s New Landmark Library Project, Fulton Trotter Architects, who have designed libraries throughout regional Queensland and New South Wales, as well as library image and makeover expert Kevin Hennah. Featured libraries will include America’s best new libraries, ACT’s Gungahlin Library and Learning Centre and Sunshine Coast’s Cooroy Mill Place.
The venue is The Edge, State Library’s digital culture centre. There will be opportunities to view The Edge and the Asia Pacific Design Library, where we’ll be gathering for drinks at the end of the forum. The cost of the forum will be $80 (includes morning tea, lunch and cocktail party).
A tour of exceptional Queensland libraries, including Brisbane City Council’s new Kenmore Library, QUT’s Kelvin Grove upgrade and Caboolture’s Knowledge and Cultural Hub, will be offered on Friday 30 September.
