Some of our long-time readers may remember this column from Design Quarterly. We’re bringing it back to digital to send congratulations out to the industry when people move roles, or move up.
After 18 months of strong growth and several project wins, Architectus has welcomed several new associates across the Melbourne and Sydney offices.
In Melbourne, Brett Simmonds joins the team as a senior associate with specialities in education, workplace and urban design. Brett has moved over from Woods Bagot, having led several workplace projects including Plenary and NAB Brisbane.
Joining Brett in the Melbourne team is associate Paul Trinchi, who has moved from Cox Architecture and brings experience in education and rail design.
In the Sydney office, Lynne Hancock joins as a senior associate bringing more than 20 years experience in urban design.
At national design practice Hames Sharley, the Western Australian office has appointed Stephen Moorcroft as principal to lead the workplace portfolio.
Stephen’s experience totals more the 400,000-square metres of built workspace over the course of his career.
International practice McGregor Coxall has announced the relocation of its China studio operations to Shenzen. The move coincides with the practice’s recent competition win for the Shenzen Danaoke Park.
Heading up the new office as studio leader will be Michael Patte, who has extensive experience in landscape architecture and urban planning, and has worked in France and China.
In SJB’s Melbourne office, Kurt Boledziuk has been announced as an associate of architecture. The appointment aligns with SJB’s efforts to recognise and nurture future leaders of the practice.
Kurt has worked across multiple sectors including residential, hospitality and commercial projects. Kurt has also been part of a team that secured several high profile projects through design competitions.
As Weston Williamson has been appointed to work across two major rail projects in Melbourne and Sydney, the practice has boosted its senior teams in both cities.
Peter Stevens has joined the Melbourne team as technical director to work on the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project. Peter brings experience in transport design having previously worked at Aurecon and Grimshaw Architects.
In Sydney, Chie Shimizu has been announced as the head of the new studio in Surry Hills. Chie will be working on the Sydenham Station upgrade on the Sydney Metro. Chie has worked on rail projects internationally and was recently awarded the Women in Rail award at the 20th Rail Business Awards.
