Scroll through the who’s who of product design in 2022. We’ve rounded up the 12 top-ranking designer products from The Object category of INDE.Awards.
July 27th, 2022
Objects populate our everyday, from the chair that we sit on to the vase on the table and everything in between. The products in the shortlist of The Object category for the 2022 INDE.Awards have all been crafted by expert designers and created to enhance our lives but there is much more besides the obvious use and decoration.
While there is excellent form and function within the objects of the shortlist, each is singular for innovation, environmental considerations and fine resolution.
This year, the shortlist contains a variety of chairs and sofas, tables, lighting and accessories that break the usual mould to redefine style and utility. Sustainability practice is integral within the designs and thinking, and each object has been made to stand the test of time, to be handed down to future generations.
Original thinking informs the way that each of the 12 products have been created, and in many cases, the latest technology informs the manufacturing processes. While the handmade, artisanal object is also on show, the thinking behind all designs is layered and in-depth, encapsulating best practice from all perspectives.
Of course, beauty is inherent with the shortlisted objects and whether curved or linear, textured or smooth each would enhance a space or a place. Authentic materials, timber in particular, but glass, bronze or fabric all add to the allure of a form to become a celebration of something special.
The winners of the INDE.Awards categories including The Object will be announced at the gala party in Melbourne on 4 August. We look forward to celebrating great design with you and applauding the incredible talent that resides within the Indo-Pacific region.
