Saturday Indesign 2026 ends on a high at Woollahra Hotel

After a full day of design across Sydney, Saturday Indesign 2026 continued into the night at Woollahra Hotel, where the architecture and design community came together for the official Afterparty.

After a packed day of showroom visits, installations, workshops, launches and conversations across Sydney, Saturday Indesign 2026 shifted gears for its final destination: the official Afterparty at Woollahra Hotel.

With the four precincts of Surry Hills, Waterloo, Alexandria and Paddington having drawn the design community across the city throughout the day, the Afterparty brought everyone back together under one roof. Architects, designers, specifiers, exhibitors and industry friends traded showroom hopping for drinks, music and a chance to catch up without somewhere else to be.

The move to Woollahra Hotel felt fitting after a day built around exploring Sydney at a more intimate scale. Its location close to the Paddington precinct made for a natural final stop, while the pub setting gave the evening a distinctly relaxed character – less about programming and more about the people who had filled the showrooms throughout the day.

By evening, conversations that had started over new collections, materials and installations continued over drinks. The pace inevitably picked up as the music did, with the Afterparty providing the chance to reconnect with familiar faces, meet people encountered throughout the day and celebrate after months of work behind the scenes.

That social dimension has always been an important part of Saturday Indesign. The products, installations and talks might provide the reason to move between showrooms, but the event also creates opportunities for a geographically dispersed industry to occupy the same spaces at the same time. At Woollahra Hotel, those connections could continue without the next session or bus departure dictating the schedule.

It was also a chance for exhibitors and participating brands to step away from their own spaces after a full day of hosting. With the formal program finished, the different parts of Saturday Indesign converged into one crowd, bringing together people who may have spent the day following entirely different routes through the city.

From the first coffees and morning sessions to afternoon drinks and, finally, a packed Woollahra Hotel, Saturday Indesign 2026 unfolded as much through its social encounters as its design program. The Afterparty gave those encounters somewhere to continue – and the industry one final reason to stay out.
