This year’s Sydney Indesign isn’t bigger… it’s better! Meaning you can get around to everything much quicker and closer than ever before.
August 9th, 2017
You spoke, and we listened! Sydney is too big to try and run around all day. So this year, we’ve jam-packed everything to happen within the Alexandria-Waterloo suburbs, and have broken down these areas into FOUR key design hotspots…
.
We’re putting a spotlight on our industry’s local heritage – its people, its achievements, and its brands. SID17 is all about fostering a culture of appreciation for the unflagging passion that underlies the Australian architecture and design industry.
Dessein’s all-Australian and ultra-modern designs interact with an impressive slew of international brands. Bringing global design to the local market, our B2 District exhibitors collectively celebrate the globalism of contemporary A+D.
SID17 is a truly global experience: from the amazing Spanish stone supplied by Earp Bros for generations, to Mafi + Kebony by WOODOS’ incredible Austrian timbers, LightCo’s premium European portfolio, Schiavello’s latest treats right from Spain, and the first time German powerhouse Brunner has arrived in Australia thanks to the team at Zenith!
A key addition to the precinct, however, is Pioneer: a showcase of local Australian design. From Dennis Abalos to Axolotl, Luxmy Furniture to Ross Didier, and So Watt, TIRAR, mcdermottbaxter, MAP and Made by Pen, these brands are preserving our home-grown integrity to elevate local design onto the global stage.
.
Surrounded by this city’s most intense industrial developments, and engirt by juggernaut local and international design brands, The Alex is a small oasis of innovation and cutting-edge design thinking.
The Alex celebrates the power of technology and innovation to assist us all in the pursuit of a better, more intelligent, thoughful way of living in design. Whether getting up close and personal with the latest in sintered surface technology with the guys at CDK Stone, or sitting down with the team from EcoSmart Fire to learn about how we can achieve clean-burning fire, The Alex is a portal to high-tech R+D, smart design and the intelligence that lies behind some of our most familiar household names.
Coupled with the expert industrial edginess of Savage Design’s distinctive furniture, and the breathtaking beauty of thinkdzine’s kitchen and bathroom design solutions, The Alex will transport you to a new frontier for the possibility of A+D, today!

Global design fairs usually occupy dull exhibition halls, where besuited visitors trudge down rows of same-same stands. SO. BORING. This is why every year at Sydney Indesign, we turn things up a notch at The Venue: one location with one enormous lineup!
Fresh from the top-tier studios across the world, the latest in commercial furniture design acts as the beating heart of The Venue. Illuminated by the recent arrivals from Euroluce in Milan earlier this year, the most coveted lighting innovations are expected to draw quite a crowd, too!
Whether you’re after the latest in finishes – timber, laminate, stone, and everything in between – or whether you’re after an immersion in fixed and fitted componentry, The Venue really does have it all. And, when you’re feet are JUST beginning to give up on you, there’s plenty of places to take a quick breather, sit down and relax … thanks to a handful of our best furniture designers from Australia and beyond! Acting as a showcase of the breadth and diversity of products, brands, applications, people and ideas that encompasses the A+D community in one broad sweep, this is your comprehensive guide to A+D today. Visiting The Venue means that you won’t miss a thing!

Waterloo is the centre of all things fine, delicate and oh-so-fancy! Whether it’s the best in high-quality oak, enviable bathroom fitouts, or even just the indulgence of contemporary European furniture, SID17’s Waterloo precinct speaks to our dreams and desires.
After all, who doesn’t love the finer things in life? Our Waterloo exhibitors celebrate the best in craftsmanship, the highest in environmental standards, and the top-most tier in material quality.
When you chat with the team at Cafe Culture + Insitu, in their pop-up within the Tongue n Groove showroom, you’ll discover that fine design means preserving the traditional craftsmanship of centuries-old manufacturing communities. Meanwhile, Pure Concepts’ team takes us all on a journey of reimagining ‘timelessnes’: harnessing the qualities of precision, expertise and innovation for any interior or exterior abode.
And when you pop next door, Abey’s incredible bathroom and kitchen installations serve as a pointed example that high-end design requires a constant commitment to perfecting materiality. Waterloo invites you to immerse yourself in the delicacy and refinement of experience.
