Classique’s C-ique Design Bar brings socialising to the showroom.
June 22nd, 2010
Surry Hills has long been a hub of all things design-related, but with the recent development of St Margarets Urban Village, designed by SJB and PTW, and the Hill Street Precinct – the area is quickly becoming Sydney’s premier design destination.
The brand new Classique Showroom, designed by Elizabeth Tam, is paving the way for a new industry trend – incorporating a showroom of compelling designs into a sociable space complete with bar and chef.
Housed in the space of a former Asian restaurant, the building opens onto the pedestrianised courtyard of St Margarets.
The two-storey space boasts floor to ceiling glass walls throughout, offering the perfect natural lighting to showcase Classique custom-design fit-out capabilities alongside displays from their designer brands xO, matteograssi, EGO Paris and Bonacina Pierantonio.
A private conference room with AV equipment is available for the industry to hire and entertain their clients, while the downstairs C-ique Design Bar offers an elegant ambience for networking with free secure wireless internet access for guests.
Come summertime, visitors can spill out into the courtyard or upstairs terrace, where all of the latest outdoor furniture designs are displayed.
On Friday 25th June from 6pm, the C-ique Design Bar along with Indesign will celebrate 25 Years of xO designs worldwide.
In 2010, xO has embarked towards a new phase of design evolution with imagination and intrigue.
The Milan Furniture Fair saw designs released by Marcel Wanders and Karim Rashid to join the long list of designs by the industry’s most prolific designer and the co-owner of xO, Philippe Starck.
The xO launch event coincides with the Whitehouse Institute of Design Open Days, directly opposite St Margarets Urban Village at 2 Short Street, Surry Hills from 25 until 26 June (10am – 3pm).
On Saturday 26 June, 10am – 10pm Classique is launching the C-ique Design Bar Membership Program, in the courtyard space at St Margarets Urban Village for members of the design industry and the local community.
