Winter Warmers with Vivid

Now in its 3rd year, Vivid has once again attracted a flock of Sydneysiders to the harbour and its surrounds for a stunning display of light, music and ideas.

The Festival officially opened with the lighting of the Sydney Opera House sails, featuring a multimedia display and design by collective SUPERBIEN.

Creating a trail of light around Circular Quay and The Rocks is a series of 40 light installations – the result of months of work from top architects, designers, engineers and artists.

Light Wave Action from the team at Haron Robson reflects the harbour and movement of the waves in its form and invites passersby to experience its mystery and translucence up close.

Woodhead’s aLf, whom we featured several weeks ago when he was still in his developmental stage, also takes up residence by the harbour – and he looks great.

Jon Voss of Rice Daubney has created an incongruous addition to our urban fabric – a school of fish suspended from a tree, seemingly floating in thin air.

Each individual fish emits a soft glow; as a school, the fish shine brighter and shimmer as they move in the breeze.

Customs House, Campbells Cove and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) are also hotspots for some amazing interactive displays of light – from live fire spectacles to digital graffiti.

The Vivid light show, as part of Vivid Sydney, runs until June 13.
