As part of Saturday in Design, The Project is providing a platform for ’Representations’ to take place in Downtown Surry Hills.
July 15th, 2009
Collaborating with no less than five architecture and design firms, InterfaceFLOR are turning their Chalmers Street showroom into a bona fide gallery.
HASSELL, Geyer, Woods Bagot, Sheargold/Hieatt and Davenport Campbell will create their own artworks responding to the inspiration driver “What is your sense of…?”, which incorporates The Project keyword for 2009, ‘Sense’.
Each company will utilise their own custom designed carpet tile to create an installation that pushes the boundaries of carpet tiles beyond a one-dimensional flat surface. The five firms will explore carpet as an artistic subject and transform it into a 3D art space.
Similarly to last year, InterfaceFLOR are choosing to work with members of the industry for The Project, where the concepts are created by the audience of Saturday in Design. Through The Project at InterfaceFLOR this year, architects and designers can begin to understand the possibilities that unique customisation of carpet tile can offer.
In the lead up to the event, installation updates will be posted on Facebook and Twitter. Check out The 5th Wall on Facebook and Twitter and Representations Gallery.
