Set in Frankfurt, Heimtextil is the biggest international trade fair for home and contract textiles. Scandinavian Wallpaper & Décor’s Ann-Louise Lollo Jansson was on the ground to discover the latest products that are set to define our living spaces.
February 25th, 2016
Setting the global benchmark for quality design textiles of innovative functionality, Heimtextil 2016 ran from January 12-15 in a flurry of international exhibitors, beautiful displays and eager trade visitors.
“It is a great opportunity to meet new suppliers and to broaden our range of products that we will bring to the Australian market,” says Ann-Louise Lollo Jansson, owner of Scandinavian Wallpaper & Décor. “I think the trend section was amazing – it managed a sense of calmness and inner peace as it appealed to the senses.”
While a lot of metallics were being used in all aspects of design at the exhibition, marble and stone effects, botanical and nature references and Scandinavian style were also strongly represented.
As for colour palette predictions for the coming year, here’s what Ann-Louise uncovered:
Pastel colours – Neutrals, nudes, blush and soft greys
Vibrant colours – Bright orange, green, yellow, fluorescents, offset against dark purple
Warm colours – Olive, dark green, stone, deep brown and grey
Opulent colours – Dark red, bronze, gold, burnt orange, gunmetal and plum
Additional features we can expect to see include:
Geometric shapes
Soft, sheer and translucent fabrics
Velours and velvets
A green trend with more recycling and natural, organic materials
Use of cork and cracked timber
Plenty of marble, as well as mineral and stone effects
Oriental and Persian patterns, mixing old traditions of craftsmanship with new technology
Visitors to Ann-Louise’s Mt Hawthorn studio will soon be treated to a range of new products fresh from her visit to Heimtextil, as well as new printing techniques for wallpaper and printing on different materials.
“We’ll have exciting new ranges from Tres Tintas, Rebel Walls and Decor Maison,” Ann-Louise said. “We’ll also be bringing back ranges of marbles, metallics and chevrons from new suppliers that we met at the fair, as well as a new take on traditional designs.”
