At the heart of Saturday in Design, the Surry Hills Precinct cooked up a storm of new designs.
August 4th, 2009
With a number of new products and partnerships, including Studio Italia Design, Special Lights on Crown Street went with the theme ’Fresh Produce’. As a whole, the Surry Hills Precinct welcomed a heap of fresh design produce, with Warehouse 625 presenting eight companies and their latest products across two levels.
Welcomed into this fantastic design hub location we were met by Warwick Fabric’s new ranges before getting some hands-on experience with working demonstrations of ILVE and Hansgrohe products. The beautiful new Kaldewei black bath from Bathe delivered some bathroom opulence, and Interstudio featured their range of height adjustable desks (you may even have spotted the ’Milk’ desk complete with goldfish!) as well as a great range of new seating.
Walking up the stairs you’d have passed the green ’Shoedelier’ by Ontera Modular Carpets, before hopping over to see the stunning new range of bathroom-ware from Studio Bagno supported by Porter’s Paints, before lounging around with the throngs in the Lavandou BirdsNest Armchair at Classique.
Design on Flinders was buzzing on Saturday. The crowds turned out in force to visit the Gelosa showroom throughout the day, with Comax, Hettich, The Laminex Group and Zip Heaters putting on a veritable design spread.
In the afternoon the Ashington Fridcorp Habitus Lounge welcomed VIPs to sip some Veuve Clicquot with the developers and the Habitus Editors. At Blinds by Bayliss, international guest, the delightful Eun Il Lee, was there to introduce the Artvivant range of textiles and explain his unique design philosophy. Tsar, sharing with Bayliss, also presented their latest ranges to eager (and by the end of the day, tired) feet!
Artemide presented the beautiful cantilevered Ipogeo by Jo Wentworth, as well as providing visitors with their daily coffee fix with their in-store barista.
Cavit & Co. were in a prime location with the nearby Surry Hills Markets and the beautiful weather helping to create a carnival atmosphere. Throughout Saturday, visitors walked between showrooms and took their time to devour the amazing design (and soak up the winter sun).
