London-based interior and architectural design firm G.A Design have recently completed a USD30 million facelift for The Langham, Hong Kong.

This latest project is aimed at enhancing the “overall guest experience” and repositioning The Langham “at the top end of the city’s leading luxury hotels” says the hotel’s Managing Director, Bob van den Oord.

Emphasis has been placed on creating elegant residential spaces with luxury detailing. A total of 230 rooms and suites in the 498-room hotel have been renovated. These include the Penthouse Suite, which recalls the fashion houses of Europe with its silk-lined wall paneling and pale marble finishes, and the Director Suite, which incorporates jewel accents and photographic art from film shoots. Both suites also come with oversized baths and generous living rooms.

“Our aim for the room renovation is to have a design referencing the Langham luxury brand elements, yet [ensuring that it remains] relevant to the character and culture of the city in which the hotel is located,” explains Su Ball, Executive Director of G.A Design.

In line with the hotel’s renewed brand of luxury, there are now also Guest Experience Managers on hand to assist guests with their every whim, from unpacking suitcases and colour-coding clothes in wardrobes, to personalising pillows and room temperature, and organising sightseeing tours.

Palm Court

Headlining the new look for the luxury hotel, the Palm Court lounge has been restyled after its namesake at The Langham, London where British afternoon tea was first served in the hotel almost 150 years ago. The new space is fresh and elegant and exudes a sense of tradition with its painted timber columns.

Artesian

Also hailing from London and making its debut at The Langham, Hong Kong, Artesian was voted “The World’s Best Bar” for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013 by Drinks International, and features interiors that delicately combine the nostalgia of Art Deco with contemporary touches.
